Custom Error Pages
Find out what a Custom Error Page is, what function does it serve and ways to set one.
If you have looked at lots of sites, you have probably come across some error message every now and then. An error could occur if the hosting server can't process a request (Error 400), if you need to log in so as to see some content and you haven't done so (Error 401), if you are not able to access a webpage (Error 403) or if a link leads to a file that isn't on the server (Error 404). Getting this type of messages could sometimes be frustrating since the pages have absolutely nothing in common with the actual site. That’s why some hosting providers allow you to set your own error pages that'll match the layout of your own website and which can have any content that you want - information why the error has occurred, a suggestion how to handle it or even some funny remark. This kind of feature can help you keep the visitor on the site irrespective of the error or the reason for it.
Custom Error Pages in Web Hosting
You'll be able to set up personalized error pages for each of your domains or subdomains. The function is supported by all web hosting solutions that we offer, so as soon as you log in to your Hepsia Control Panel and check out the Hosted Domains section, you can easily click on the Edit button for a domain/subdomain and in the pop-up which will be displayed, you can pick the type of error page which should show up - a default one from our system, a conventional Apache server page or a customized one. For the latter option, you'll have to specify the URL to the page, so if you use personalized pages, you must upload the files inside your website hosting account first. One other way is to use an .htaccess file located inside the domain or subdomain folder with a line for every error type. The precise syntax can be found in our Knowledge Base, so you can use this feature even if you don't have any previous experience.
